The first commercial activity in Tilton, NH, was a sawmill and a gristmill. That was in 1775 and it took till 1869 to be registered as a town. This picture is from the Main Street; the red building was built in 1884..

This picure was taken from the bridge over Winnipesaukee River. I did some work on the fotograph to make it look like a painting. The buildings on the right are now longer in use, but protected by the township.
