Visit to Vermont #2, USA
Manchester is a popular destination for tourists from NYC, Boston, etc. Many of the older wooden houses are now subject to renovation and restoration. The city council wants to perserve the historic downtown.
The Village of Jamaica has a different situation. It is not a major tourist destination and is lacking lodging facilities. "Like many Vermont communities, the town's economy prospered with the introduction of Merino sheep in the early nineteenth century. The sheep flourished on rocky hillsides, and as their numbers increased, bare land replaced forests, but this prosperity did not last. The depression that followed the Civil War, and the decline in the wool market, took their toll on the economy." (Qouted from Wikipedia).
Jamaica's City Hall is another example of the loss of population and revenue.
