In 1850 False Creek was the home for 20 First Nations bands and the area was the industrial heartland of Vancouver till about 1950. Following Expo 86 False Creek started a transformation and public participation that wanted a liveable high density community. False Creek has industry, marinas, Granville Island shopping area, parks, water taxis, community centres, etc.
The north shore of False Creek has become over the last two decades a new neighbourhood of dense housing (100 units/acre)
