You walk on a trail and suddenly the whole terrain changes and you have this amazing view of a landscape that was formed over millions of years.
This is called The Windows.These thin walls of rock are called fins. Frost-wedging enlarges cracks in the fins, creating holes or windows.
Under the Rim Trail (see the bottom right side) can take you to the bottom of Bryce Canyon. As Windows grow, their tops eventually collapse, leaving a column, as shown in the middle. Rain further dissolves and sculpts these limestone pillars into bulbous spires called hoodoos.(Quoted from Bryce Canyon National Park brochure)
