Old Town, Cartagena, Colombia

This the typical traffic in the Old Town. The sidewalks and the streets are narrow and besides cars there are a number of carriages with fruit, stands with local items like cheap jewelries, hats, etc. that makes walking a challenge. The church in the background is Ctaedral de Santa Catalina de Alejandria.

I took this picture inside the church and a portion of the church had this Christmas decoration. The construction of the church started in 1577 and was finished in 1612.

Last time we were in Cartagena we stayed in a small hotel next to where I took this picture. We were fascinated how the owner of the small coffee shop had decorated the old building.

Colors seem to be very important to the citizens of Cartagena and bougainvillea their favourite. Most of the wooden balconies are covered with Christine's favourite flower.
